　　Skyscrapers are hard to build and even harder to make money from. Perhaps that is why they hold such an enduring fascination. “The problem of the tall office building”, wrote Louis Sullivan， an architect， in 1896, “is one of the most stupendous, one of the most magnificent opportunities that the Lord of Nature in His beneficence has ever offered to the proud spirit of man.”

　　According to Emporis, a firm which tracks skyscrapers, Roughly 8% of the world's stock of tall buildings is currently under construction. About 40% of the world's 200 tallest buildings have been completed since 2000.

　　根据一个专门跟踪摩天大楼建造的公司 ——安玻利斯公司的统计，世界高楼总数的约8%目前正在建造之中。世界200座最高大楼中的约40%是在2000年以后建成的。
